Contrary to popular belief, owning pets does not mean giving up on style and elegance. If you love animals and your interior décor, there is good news for you – you can keep both. By designing a dog-friendly home, you create an atmosphere that is not only stylish but also favorable for your furry friends.
To begin with, opt for pet friendly upholstery fabrics. You can attest that pets love couches as much as we do. Consequently, they will leave fur and dirt on your favorite couch. The secret is to go for fabrics that are durable and easy to clean. For instance, you can opt for a dog-friendly velvet upholstery fabric. Another way is to choose colors actively. Go for low-key colors or better yet, colors similar to those of your pet. This way, you will not have to vacuum daily. Lastly, get your pets a scratching post. Most pets enjoy scratching especially on the couches and curtains, an action that is destructive. To prevent couch scratching, let the pets scratch on the post. FibreGuard is a fabric supplier that specializes in high-performance, anti-stain fabrics. FibreGuard fabrics are safe having satisfied the OEKOTEX 100 safety test. Better yet, the fabrics are durable and they maintain their anti-stain properties even after multiple washes. Usually at the end of the year, I'm left thinking: "Holy cow - that was fast! How has another year gone by already??" That's not the case this year, which is rare. These past twelve months have felt pretty long, and I'm totally ready to switch gears and hop into 2018 mode. I'm looking forward to welcoming in another new year, and to celebrate, I'm sharing with you this New Years printable game called The Envelope Game. It's great for parties where everyone might not know each other, or if you're celebrating with a bunch of introverts (shout out to my people) who might need a little party-participation push. Via https://www.curbly.com/new-years-printable-envelope-game Hold onto your hats, because it's almost 2019! Even though the passing of another year signals that we're all getting a little bit older (*groan*), I very much enjoy celebrating New Years. It's an excuse to start fresh, a good reason to celebrate the future, and a time to reflect on all the awesome things that happened in 2018. To ring in the new year, I made a cute little banner to hang in my home. It took no time at all to make, and the cost was almost nothing, since it's made mostly from inexpensive felt. Make one to bring good vibes in 2019, or to hang up at your New Year's Eve party! Hopefully now that Christmas is over you finally have a bit of time to relax. Maybe you already know exactly how you want to spend the week between Christmas and New Year's, but here are 10 ideas for how to unwind in case you've forgotten how. Via https://www.curbly.com/the-days-after-christmas-should-be-the-best-week-of-the-year-here-s-how-by-rachel-jacks Have you ever wondered why traditions are so prevalent and feel so important around the holidays? As it turns out, traditions reinforce important belief structures. They comfort us with a sense of belonging and help us express gratitude. Traditions cement existing bonds and create new ones. If those are not reasons enough, traditions usually involve food and are just plain fun. Christmas traditions vary in their details but the reasons behind them are remarkably similar. Read on for real-life examples. On maximizing the holiday season:“My son is obsessed with Santa and all things Christmas all year long. His birthday is in early November and his main birthday request is that we decorate. So, weeks before Thanksgiving, you will find us and the birthday boy stringing lights on the porch, putting up multiple Christmas trees, and running cords across the lawn for giant inflatable snowmen. Some might shake their heads but if you saw his smile, you would understand.” -Jonquil On sweet fathers:“When my dad had to work Christmas morning, he would always come home with gifts that he said Santa had dropped out of his sleigh or forgotten on the roof. Usually they were one of our big wish items.” -Rachelle “When I was young my dad would create a trail of peanuts for me to follow to my stocking. He said that Santa must have had a hole in his pocket and the peanuts that were kept there for the reindeer fell out.” -Marji “My dad always made a big Christmas breakfast for us. Last year, our first Christmas without him, my husband and son got up and make everything my dad had always done. It was delicious.” -Kim On giving back together:“Every year we go to a Hospice House with friends and bake cookies. Our kids make cards and deliver them along with the fresh-from-the-oven cookies. It always smells amazing. The families there are going through sad circumstances but this gesture always brings them genuine smiles.” -Cyndi Via https://www.curbly.com/holiday-traditions I literally never remember to purchase gift tags at Christmastime - and I'm not using the term "literally" for extra drama here. I actually cannot recall a single time I've ever picked up gift tags at the store, put them in my shopping basket, and taken them to the register to check out. What usually ends up happening when I'm wrapping presents is I realize my mistake, try to find a nice-enough piece scrap of paper, scribble the recipient's name on the back, throw on a little Scotch tape, and call it a day. Janky, I know. Hence why I love printable gift tags! Via https://www.curbly.com/printable-gift-tags-holiday Storage. We all need more of it. No matter how much room you have, an organized system will always top square footage. Recently, I was looking for a way to clean up all the bottles in our liquor cabinet. It's not that we drink too much; in fact, it's the opposite. We buy specific products to try a new cocktail recipe. And we'll make it once, and end up with all this extra liquid to store in perpetuity until we can figure out what to do with it. Via https://www.curbly.com/how-to-make-a-simple-wooden-box-shelf Despite what's depicted in Hallmark movies, the holidays can actually be a really stressful time of year. Not only that, but if you're not careful, added anxiety and pressure can cause you to miss the season all together. With Thanksgiving in the rear view and Christmas coming around the corner fast, how in the world are we supposed to stay in the present and enjoy what this season has to offer? While we may never regain the magic of the holidays that we felt as children (the whole no-Santa thing kind of ruins it, amiright?), there are ways to claim and nurture some new warm and fuzzy feelings. Here's how you can make the most of the season by soaking up the present. Via https://www.curbly.com/how-to-stay-present-during-the-holidays |
